K2 EcoPop Snowboard – All the Tech without the Trash

Gretchen goes Green! Here is another great Press Release from our friends at K2 about Gretchen Bleiler’s new eco-friendly board, the K2 EcoPop.  Thanks Kevin Winkle at K2 Snowboarding!

K2 Snowboarding Combines State of the Art Technology with Environmentally Sensitive Construction in the New EcoPop Board

When an X-Games Gold Medalist asks for a new board to help her compete at the top of her game, you had better make it good. When that gold medalist is Gretchen Bleiler, you had better make the board just as good for the environment. K2’s new EcoPop is both of those things, featuring our state of the art Flatline Technology and Harshmellow damping while at the same time utilizing K2’s Eco Conscious Construction (ECC) to help keep winters cold and snowy.

The EcoPop’s new zero-camber Flatline Technology creates smooth, equal pressure everywhere across the base of the board, resulting in the perfect balance of stability and versatility. The EcoPop instantly feels broken in and comfortable while maintaining the pop and responsiveness of a brand new stick. Flatline is the most balanced ride for the aspiring ripper, making the EcoPop the weapon of choice when Gretchen needs one versatile board to do it all.

The Harshmellow damping system on the EcoPop is tailored to decrease vibration, minimize impact, increase board feel, and maximize a rider’s potential. With Harshmellow added to specific areas of the EcoPop, the technology works to dampen the jolts, jerks, and jabs the mountain throws at you.

The EcoPop’s ECC uses fiberglass produced using next generation manufacturing techniques that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is also 35% stronger, allowing for the use of much less overall material. UV coating is eliminated 100% thanks to the use of lightweight, ultra-thin Tek-Style topsheets, ABS plastics are completely eliminated, use of solvents, steel, resin, base and core materials is reduced, and the core is made of fast growing bamboo, which can be harvested without destroying the root system, making the EcoPop a board that let’s Gretchen worry less about being green, and more about bringing home the gold.
