I gained access to some of K2′s press releases for 2010. Here’s an overview on K2′s new technology for next season and a quick summary of the new women’s 2010 K2 Snowboard collection. Thanks K2!
Over the years, snowboarding has seen any number of “technological advancements.” The truth is, unless it improves the quality of your ride, any ‘technological advancement’ is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. As snowboarders ourselves, at K2 we only tout the technology that actually works, that actually improves the ride that actually makes a great day even better. Our athletes – from our international pro team to our regional rep riders – have put our ’09-’10 product to the test, and thanks to their feedback we’ve dialed it in righter than ever before. With their help, we’ve developed our new Baseline Technology, which incorporates different levels of our Rocker and new Flatline Technology and traditional camber into boards across the line. We’ve improved on the Boa® access system with new Boa® Access system with new Boa®Conda Technology, we’ve incorporated our Harshmellow ultimate damping system into more boot, board and binding models, and we’ve expanded the use of our Eco Conscious Construction (ECC) and environmentally sensitive Hybrilight Construction to help keep winter cold and snowy.
Women’s Snowboard Buyers Guide
Posted in Blog, Gear Guide on May 18th, 2009 by courtney – Be the first to commentWe’ve all seen that bickering couple on the hill: the boyfriend has his shiny new set-up, shouting commands at his girlfriend who is stuck riding his 4 year old equipment. She ends up frustrated and crying, never wanting to snowboard again. Don’t let this girl be you!
Women’s specific equipment is absolutely essential to your progression in snowboarding. Obviously, women are shaped differently from men and so we require different features in snowboarding gear. Narrower waist widths, softer flexes, and anatomically constructed boots and bindings will optimize our performance and keep us on par with the fellows.

Beginning next season, Vail, Beaver Creek, Brekenridge, Keystone and Heavenly Resorts will require all employees and youth riders to wear helmets. This story is taken from travelpulse and the decision is no doubt in response to Natasha Richardson’s tragedy. I think it is unfortunate that it has taken so long to encourage a mandatory helmet clause. Helmets are cool! They are lightweight, comfortable, and have speakers built in to them. Check out the Smith Maze Helmet for 2010 above. Cool, right? Read the full story below or click here.
